This week I finished a Gallery Presentation for a client who was a great example of how being organised while still pregnant really can make a difference to your whole newborn photosession experience.
This lovely mum knew she wanted newborn photography of her first child so did some research and decided that she liked the style of BabyPhotography.co.uk. So she contacted me via my Facebook page back in April after her 20 week scan. I called her back, we chatted through the process, and when she had paid her session fee we booked a provisional Newborn Experience appointment in the diary based around her due date. I had minimal appointments available in August so she was able to bagsy my first available session in September. There was plenty of time to send a Welcome Pack with all the finer details in it to help the session run smoothly.
Then she followed the process perfectly. When her baby daughter arrived she called me to confirm her appointment. She was able to ensure her husband was going to be around, that there wouldn’t be clashes with midwives or any other health professionals. It was in the diary and she was able to work around it.
Both proud parents attended the session at my specialist studio, and as they had read up all my tips from the Welcome Pack it ran really smoothly; we had the photoshoot wrapped up in just 2 hours. Mum and Dad were able to relax and chat, with drinks and snacks, while they watched me work. They didn’t have any jobs to be getting on with in another room, no phone calls to pick up, no visitors to entertain. It was their turn to be spoiled. Their daughter could stop for feeds and cuddles as often as she wanted to as I only do one session per day- there is no clock watching.
After the session we arranged the Gallery Presentation of their collection, and they took home the full Product Guide to get a feel for sizes and prices of the art I can create with the imags.
One week later, mum and baby returned to view the very best 30 images that I had carefully chosen from the photographs that I took. We discussed products, finishes and sizes at a relaxed pace with yet more tea and biscuits, until she had an order that she was over the moon with.
My next task is to fully edit them so they are pixel perfect, and I’ll be contacting her in around a month when the artwork is ready for collection from the studio. I take time ensuring they will be timeless additions to the walls in their home. Her parting words as she left the studio were “they are worth every penny.”
If you are considering professional photography of your new baby, it really does pay off to be organised and book while pregnant. So contact me any time after your 20 week scan to begin the process. I very much look forward to hearing from you.
“Heather was absolutely fantastic and extremely supportive as I’d had some post pregnancy complications. The studio was very private and welcoming, Heather was also great with my daughter. I would 100% recommend and will definitely be using for future photos.”
